"To be modern, I said, is to experience personal and social life as a maelstrom, to find one's own world and oneself in perpetual disintegration and renewal, agitation and anguish, ambiguity and contradiction: being part of one Universe in which everything that is solid collapses in the air. To be a modern is to feel at ease in the maelstrom, to make the rhythms of the maelstrom its own rhythm, to move in its chains in search of the forms of reality, of beauty, of justice, of its feverish and dangerous. - Marshall Berman We live in a world full of new events, most of them virtual and illusory: globalization, electronic communications, mobility, flexibility, fluidity, relativization, fragmentation, breakdowns of barriers and borders, mergers, short-term , Immediacy, populism, descentralization and extraterritoriality of power, unpredictability and consumption. This whirlwind of events marks the historical moment in which we live - the era of the unpredictable. The work now presented is a reflection on the "unpredictability of things". This theme / concept is interpreted as an inherent characteristic of the events that shape and conduct behaviors in the context of human, individual and collective living. In this way, work develops from an image that is formed based on a personal reading of economic, social and political events and how these influence the course and destiny, seemingly ruled by our society, through the subordination of the will Individual to a social, moral, ideological determinism, etc. It is a project that seeks to "expose" how the chaotic network of events plays a structural role in molding society and the individual. The creative process originates from the line, which by its continuous and unpredictable movement creates networks of chaotic aspect - temporal materialization of human behavior and events that shape society - which, like a "skin" of unpredictable geometry, takes shape through Its embodiment. These ideas take shape in the three groups of objects (sculptures) that present and appropriate space in different ways: Objects "Bubbles" - representing events and their unfolding; Are constituted by spheres of varied size. "Social" objects - representing the de characterization of the individual by subordination to a group or society; Are replicated in the same way and have a geometric appearance. "Individual" objects - representing the individual shaped by personal and social events; Are made up of containers of different type, different dimensions and specific characteristics. Here, the geometric expresses the effect of the imposition of the norm on the individual, with the purpose of adapting it to a standard, which allows it to form a group and integrate society. As in the earlier series "URIT - Understanding the Relative Importance of Things", the conceptual approach to the subject led me to use an extruded thermoplastic polymer (commonly known as hot glue) in the composition and structuring of (chaotic) networks, and choice of the black color to translate "obscurantism", in the sense of ignorance in the face of the instability of the behaviors in question. The subtlety of objects seeks to question in a "positive" way the theme of unpredictability, which is felt as a harrowing and dramatic thing in human experience.
